Editorial Policy
Sourcing
Guides cite primary sources: veterinary professional bodies (AVMA, WSAVA, AAHA), university veterinary teaching hospitals, poison-control organisations, and peer-reviewed journals. We do not cite other pet blogs as evidence.
Medical review
Vet Approved Co is an editorial resource, not a veterinary practice. The site name does not mean that a veterinarian has approved each guide. A guide should only be treated as medically reviewed when it names a verified veterinary reviewer and the review date. Guides without that information have no verified veterinary review.
Updates
Guide dates describe publication or substantive editorial updates. An update date does not establish veterinary review or confirm that every linked source was rechecked. Time-sensitive prices and rules should be checked with the named provider or authority.
Report a correction
Email darren@maillander.io with the page link, the statement that needs attention and a supporting source. Please do not send personal veterinary records. We assess the source, correct the guide and update related tool data where needed.
Illustrations and estimates
Illustrations explain concepts; they are not diagnostic photographs or evidence of a measured portion. Calculator ranges are planning assumptions unless a specific source is identified. Confirm prices with providers and individual care plans with your vet.
What we don't do
- No diagnosis: our symptom guides help you judge urgency, not replace examination.
- No sponsored conclusions: recommendations are never sold.
- No recycled content: guides are researched and written for this site.
